1. Julia Gillard (1961-)

Julia Gillard is an Australian politician who served as the 27th Prime Minister of Australia from 2010 to 2013. Born in Barry, Wales, she migrated with her family to Adelaide, South Australia and grew up in the suburb of Mitcham, which falls under the region of Holdfast Bay. Gillard became the first female Prime Minister of Australia and made significant contributions in education reform and carbon pricing.

2. Sir Douglas Mawson (1882-1958)

Sir Douglas Mawson was an Australian geologist, Antarctic explorer, and academic. He was born in Shipley, Yorkshire, England, but later moved to Adelaide, South Australia. Mawson was a leader of the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (1911-1914) and made several important scientific discoveries. He played a crucial role in the exploration and mapping of Antarctica, becoming one of the most famous polar explorers of his time.

3. Sir Mark Oliphant (1901-2000)

Sir Mark Oliphant was an Australian physicist and humanitarian. He was born in Kent Town, South Australia, which is part of Holdfast Bay. Oliphant made significant contributions to the field of nuclear physics and worked on the Manhattan Project during World War II. 4. Marie Bashir (1930-)
